Water birth Video

This is a great water birth put out by the Natural Birth Center in California.

There are a few things I like about this video. It shows a family birth with relatives and siblings.

The  mother connecting with her baby is very sweet. Every time the midwife takes the mothers hand off the babies head the mother puts it right back on. Not sure why the midwife is obsessed with rinsing the babies head, either she is trying to stimulate the baby or keep it warm with the warm water from the tub. The baby is a bit limp and not real pink but it appears not in any distress as there is some flexion of limbs and attempts at crying.

I feel like many midwifes could actually do a little bit less then they do. It’s all in the training.

Bee or Wasp sting remedy

We are running and laughing on a friends farm, the air gently slapping our faces as the sun soothes our skin.

My son falls down in pain and grabs is ankle, he starts to cry.

“It burns, mommy, my leg burns.”

He has been stung by a bumble bee, a giant round yellow and black bumble bee.

I run back to the car and grab the toothpaste in our luggage. Thankfully we had not yet unpacked.

I apply a good amount to the red bump and get my son to think of something else. We continue our journey and when asked how his leg feels, he replies, “It doesn’t hurt anymore.”

Mission accomplished, again.

Use toothpaste to take the sting (pain) away almost instantly.

Use a clay (cream) base like Toms, or Natures Gate or Crest, just not a gel.

The clay draws the toxins out and the mint cools.

I can’t tell you how many tears it has dried for my children and me.

Fundraiser for Kian, an 8 month old that needs surgery

Garage sale for Kian, an 8 month old that needs surgery

A  friend  of my sisters has a 8 month old son with a heart problem.

They are having a fund raiser this Saturday, September 18th, at the Golden Gate Community Center on Golden Gate Parkway.

It’s a garage sale and all the proceeds go towards helping them with the expenses of going to California so the baby can get the first of 3 major surgeries.

The sale is from 8am-12pm.

Look for the booth that is displaying his picture.

The mother was a former teacher but had to quit her job to stay home and take care of Kian.  His lungs have to be suctioned out every couple of hours and he has a feeding tube in that they have to take care of so it’s definetly a lot of work for this young mom.

If you would like to make a donation but cannot attend the garage sale you could send the money to my sister,  Donna Koenig, at 5860 Bur Oaks Lane, Naples, FL  34119 and make the check out to  Danielle Moss and Donna will make sure she gets it.

It would be truly appreciated.

Kian heart condition is that he  has ½ of a heart. He was born without the main artery from the heart to the lungs.  He has ancillaries that have grown to compensate for this loss.  They are actually growing which has shocked the doctors.  The surgeon in California has done similar surgeries.  The first surgery will be to make an artery out of the ancillaries from the heart to the lungs.   He was also born without a spleen and his organs are reversed. They would love to have the surgery done closer to home but the surgeon in California is the only one to have performed similar surgeries.
